Private Francis Carl Gerrard Stone (10/1140) of the 10th Bn, East Yorkshire Regiment,  died on 11 September 1916 in a military hospital in Brighton.  His cause of death is listed as gunshot wounds that he received in the battle of the Somme.
His medal card shows that he had previously served with his regiment in Egypt.

Before the war he is listed on the 1911 census as working as a telegraph messenger and living at 38 Hainton Avenue, Grimsby with his 6 brothers and sisters and his parents George and Martha

He was aged 20
